Welcome
to my site
Whether you are in physical pain or mental pain, I am here to help. Sometimes life can become stressful, overwhelming, sad, lonely, or feeling stuck with noone really understanding whats going on for you and maybe not even understanding it yourself. Sometimes we need to lean on others to help us work through our life's challenges and that is ok. It is ok to ask for help. I understand it can be frustrating and scary to face adversity and challenges alone, but together we can work through and overcome whatever difficulties you are facing. I offer one to one counselling sessions, where I create a safe, none-judgemental space, where you will be heard, accepted and validated in your experience. My approach can help you to gain more self-awareness and self-confidence, a stronger sense of self, a greater success with relationships, and more trust in your own decisions. Also being a fully qualified sports massage therapist, I am aware of the link between physical and mental health and how one can impact the other. Have a read through the information about me and my work and if you like what you read and feel it is what you are looking for today, please contact me to arrange an over the phone/online consultation to explore your options further.
ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Sam, thank you for taking the time to read on. I am an integrative therapist with the person-centred approach being at the heart of my practice. I am also a qualified sports massage therapist and enjoy working with people on their physical and mental health. Physical health and emotional health are intertwined in what's known as the mind-body connection. This is the link between a person's thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours and their physical health. Whether it be physical pain or mental pain, I am here to help. I am a compassionate, kind person who cares greatly about others. Having faced my own personal difficulties in life, and being diagnosed with a chronic illness, I am very aware of the importance of having support through hard times. I love the work that I do, being passionate about promoting good physical and mental health in children and adults, helping people with their overall wellbeng.

Being into fitness myself and also being a sports massage therapist, I began to look at the connection between physical health and mental health. This interest in mental health actually led me to begin volunteering as a mentor with young offenders at Targeted Services in Wigan. This experience, along with my own personal struggles, sparked a passion inside of me to pursue a career helping others with their mental health issues. And so, I started my counselling journey at St Helens College, where I completed my Certificate in counselling skills. I then graduated from the University of Salford, where I completed a 3 year undergraduate degree in counselling and psychotherapy. Now a fully qualified counsellor, what I love the most about what I do, is supporting my clients through their journey of self-exploration and witnessing them grow into a new, more resilient version of themselves.

BACKGROUND
PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC APPROACH
I offer Person-Centred Experiential Therapy, which is a humanistic therapy that focuses on helping you with self-exploration, gaining a better understanding of self, finding your inner resources to reach your full potential. However, I work with a pluralistic perspective, meaning I see the value in all approaches to therapy, because I am aware that each individual client is unique and therefore, may require something different from therapy. What this means is I sometimes integrate techniques from other approaches in my work, if I feel these will be beneficial to my clients. Every client's journey is different and unique to them and the process could take 6 sessions, 12 sessions, or more. I find it an absolute privilege when someone chooses me to walk along side them in their journey.

MY SERVICES
Counselling/Psychotherapy
Face to face counselling
I offer face to face person-centred counselling sessions, adapting my style to meet the needs of each individual client. The sessions are £45 and 50 minutes long and over our time together, I will help you explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. This is great for people who prefer physical human interaction away from the home environment.
Online/Phone Therapy
I also offer counselling sessions online or over the telephone. These sessions have the same format as face to face, however, this is from the comfort of your own home. Great for people with a tight schedule and also who may not be as confident with face to face sessions.
Face to face sessions will take place in my private and confidential therapy space, located in Bryn, Ashton-in-Makerfield. There is plenty of room for parking outside my property and upon arrival you will be greeted by myself.
