Person-centred therapy is the main approach to counselling that I use. It can help individuals of all ages, with a range of personal issues. The theory looks at the individual as being the expert of themselves and believes that each human being has a drive deep inside that pushes them to reach their full potential. However, this ability can become blocked or distorted by certain life experiences that affect an individuals sense of value.

Person-centred therapy is a non-directive approach to talk therapy, which requires the client to lead the session. The therapist creates a confidential, non-judgemental and accepting space for the client to safely explore what is going on for them. The quality of the relationship between the therapist and client, is seen to be key to treatment being successful.

My approach is deeply rooted in person-centred values, however, I do understand that each client is unique and therefore, may need different things from therapy. I therefore adapt my practice to meet the needs of each individual client.
